Listen Up Kiddos,

I have one little piece of sound advice to offer you today.

Do not. I repeat. Do not ever grow up. Not ever. Do not even think about it. Not once. I repeat, do not grow up to be an adult. Resist the futility of adulthood at all costs. Stay a kid at heart forever and ever, and forever some more.

As it stands at this moment, and as it has throughout the the past twelve years or so, since the inception of smart phones and socialistic media, a lot of adults have become anxious and angry and hateful in America.

Apparently, we think we have a lot to be anxious and angry about. Adults have a strong tendency to forget about empathy and misbehave with antipathy when upset, and bicker amongst each other via avenues of virtue signaling. I should know, because I myself am an adult and delved into the tricky borderline egotistical art of virtue signaling a bit here and there over the years. So I beg you to please do your best to forgive us for what we’ve done. Because the truth is, is that us, like you, are still very much still learning what the right thing to do is.

Speaking on terms of the truth—and I probably shouldn’t be saying this out loud—but adults can act pretty damn self-centered and flat out spiteful at times.

Please keep that little secret between you and me, because it might make quite a few anxious adults that are reading this somewhat angry.

Now, don’t misunderstand me when what I’m saying is that I don't mean “dumb” in a negative sense. I really don’t. Because even though something or someone is dumb, or does something we think is dumb, doesn’t mean we shouldn’t still love them in the sense of unconditionality.

Take puppies and kitty cats for example. Puppies and kitties can are very be do unsmart things, but we still love them without any reservations whatsoever now don't we?

Even still, this doesn’t change the fact that we adults can in fact, act like great big gigantic nincompoops.

The problem that demands our utmost attention is though, of course, that all of us adults think we are brilliant because of what we think, of what we believe in. The idiot savant thinks he is wise, but the most genuine of wise asses knows in his heart that he is but—an absolute idiot in the grand scheme of things.

Such is life.

Okay, sure. The human species has on occasion, demonstrated an ability to create some remarkably amazing things. Baseball, Montucky Cold Snacks, the record player, Redi-Whip Cream, spaghetti abd heirloom tomato gravy, No. 2 pencils, and last but never least, the art of poetry. These are only a few things that come to my mind right off the bat.

See, we are not absolute fools, because baseball is pretty damn cool.

And just as well for instance, adults have managed to take the idea of a telephone and combine it with a computer, to make these little borderline evil contraptions with germ-collecting touchscreens that will one day allow us the capacity to wipe our own butts with the mere push of a button from the dark side of the moon if we so wish to. We can even go so far as to perform open heart surgery from 3000 miles away through the art of robotic poetry.

Wait. I meant to say technology there instead of poetry.

Though, it is unfortunate, that I often can't even get a strong enough Wi-Fi signal in my very own kitchen, which mind you, more or less, is one of the thing's makes my idiot savant ass a little more angry than I should be some days.

But none of this makes us smart by any means. Because we still have no idea how to truly listen. We have forgotten what empathy is. And even though our parents, your grandparents, and their parents tried like hell to engrain into our DNA the one very important lesson in regards the golden rule, and we apparently didn't. listen to them too. Even some of those of us that try to live by that lesson, sometimes forget how to practice what we preach.

Do you know what we do know to do though? We know how to hurt each other. We know how to inflict pain and violence amongst one another. And we know how to decorate our own ghosts with the veils of who we truly are everytime Halloween comes.

Let me be clear, I’m not writing this from a place of pessimism. This is just a brutal fact about the dark side of humanity. To destroy something, or someone, or some other nationalities family because they don't believe in our same religion is sadly, one of the defining behaviors of our so called self-imposed brilliant species. We are one of the only feral mammals who like to kill, hunt, or hurt each other, sometimes for the sheer sport of it. We are also the only species that death is imminent, but more on that later.

But Squirrels don’t kill squirrels now do they? Sure, they might steal their four-legged neighbor’s acorn stash, but never do they kill for an acorn. When was the last time you saw a bunny rabbit kill another bunny rabbit. What about cows, pigs, dolphins, or even wild horses?

Ants though, ants are absolutely brutal. Have you ever watched two colonies of ants fight? It's something else in the realm of war I'll tell you. Raccoons can get pretty brutal with each other too, if another raccoon tries to steal another raccoons fully loaded baby diaper from a Sonoma coast campsite.

But us humans, much like ants, except for the whole opposable thumb thing and the ability to know that we are going to die one day, are just a different breed, albeit wired with anger and greed, especially when something or someone, or the mass ego of two different political parties do not see eye to eye with the way we see things.

Just take one good glance at history in between the time you are reading these words and the Anno Dominio of Christianity and you’ll see what I mean.

The Crusades, 3 million dead. The Mongolian Invasions, 40 million deceased. The Spaniard conquests alone, totaled 11 million unfortunate deaths. The American Civil War, 1 million God fearing Americans dead. WWI, 40 million. WWII, 85 million. The Vietnam false flag of a spiritual playground war, 4 million lives lost. The war on terror, 3.2 million. The Russian invasion of Ukraine has left almost 750,000 dead and still counting. The Kremlin hasn't told the truth about anything since the Chernobyl incident, so that number is probably more like 1 million plus.

Either way, that's a lot of dead folks over childish squabbles for that of the Occidental's ego and greed and its self-desire for power for a bunch of self-entitled pricks. Most of them caucasian in nature.

The truth is, is that if you took every bone from the dead of all those wars, they would probably make a helluva hiking trail to Pluto and back..

Look, I’m not trying to scare you senseless, or disturb that blossoming mind of yours. I am simply putting the facts down on paper because I want you to understand where exactly you fit in all of this.

Because, you kiddos, you are not like us. At least not yet by any means. You are born into this terrifying yet wonderful place with a clean slate. Although you look like smaller versions of us, you are unlike us in many many ways. You are our last hope for a better day.

Yes, you share our exact genetic makeup, our spiral code of DNA, our physical appearance and traits.

Yes, you possess the same love we have for pepperoni pizza, soda pop, cotton candy, jigsaw puzzles, chutes and ladders, roller coasters, sunsets, the moon, and our preference for songs that make us laugh and cry just to be happy and sad, depending on our moods.

But you’re better off than we will ever be. Mainly because you’re oblivious to all of the things that make us adults go on about fussing and fighting until we afflict pain upon someone or something, whether it be in the physical, verbal, or emotional sense.

The entire philosophy that embodies being a kid is built around just having fun with your friends. That’s all that matters. That’s how you approach the world. You just love to love and love even more. That is all that you expect out of life.

Love and fun.

Every single morning you wake up, and you look forward to the fun that awaits the brand new day.

Every day carries the possibility of making magic, of creating things like music and art, and the possibility of telling a perfectly timed fart joke that comes with it an unfathomable amount of laughter that could very well compromise the confines of any given adult bladder.

There is no such thing as taboo in the world that revolves around you.

No bad guys in your eyes, lest you're watching a scary movie. No greedy ass politicians to stand in the way of your belief for a better day. You forgive without compromise even after pouting about the sun being too shiny. You love everything that you see. And even if you do, on the off chance hate something, say brussel sprouts and mushy boiled red beets for instance, you absolutely love hating those things.

You are perpetually excited, rarely disappointed for too long, hopeful about what’s coming next, optimistic to not much of a fault, delicately naive, way too trustworthy, and you believe in a higher power without even being forced to.

The very sacred, absolute best thing about you though, is that you see us adults as greatness in the making. But I'll tell you what, we are the furthest thing from it, but still you believe in it, and in us for some unknown reason, because the way you see things we never really fail, even when trying to royally screw the world in which you call home, and your future up.

I often wish I was like you kid. I want to be more like you. Believe me when I say, I try to be a little more with each and every passing day, but I often fail miserably.

So please, whatever you do, don’t ever wish to be a grown up. Rebel against it is all costs. Question everything, and then question it again. Don’t ever quit loving the Simpsons, pretzel M & M’s and sour Skittles, bouncy castles, ferris wheels, haunted houses, Halloween & Christmas eve, neopolitan ice cream, go karts that go way too fast, video games that take too long to load, getting grass stains on your brand new pair of blue jeans, or getting uncomfortable hugs from your loving, yet crazy aunt with twenty two cats.

And most importantly don't ever lose your creative spark. Never effing ever, as far as creativity goes kiddo, it's what makes this whole silly world go round. After all, we wouldn't be here if someone Upstairs, didn't get creative themselves. It’s what keeps us sane. It's what keeps the powers that be that get in the way of true undabridged freedom on the tips of their penny-loafing toes.

And one of these days, when you get older, more wiser, and cross over the threshold into adulthood you will eventually understand what I mean about how being a grown up stinks. It’s an absolute trap full of heartbreak, muscle aches, and life-changing mistakes. And hopefully these words in which I'm writing today will make that much more sense. But don't be afraid to make mistakes, and always stretch your heart and soul out a little further than before, whenever something tugs at your heartstrings.

You will understand our shortcomings firsthand and what its like to fail. You might become disappointed in not only us, but also yourself.

And if this happens to come to fruition, I only ask that you do not judge yourself, judge us all you want, but never yourself, because some of us, like you will then, are still trying to do what’s best for the future of this world without getting in our own damn way.

And yes some of us youthful adults, still don't always know not what we are doing here. Some of us sometimes worry too much about you and what the future holds for you..

Truth is though, we are here for you. You are our purpose, and all of our hope rests on doing right by you and showing you how to navigate your way through the confusion that seems to be spreading more and more each day, throughout this beautiful place.

Because after all kiddo, in the similar words of one my literary heroes, it is never too late for us adults to create a happy childhood for ourselves and our ancestors vicariously through you.

Til the next time.

Love,

Dad
